CovidScan Tests And Clears Over 4,000 LSU Game Day Ticketholders Before Kickoff

(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) – In what could change covid testing for large capacity venues in the future CovidScan successfully implemented a Covid-19 testing program that sampled and resulted over 4,000 game day ticketholders to the LSU/McNeese State game within 3 hours before kickoff.

The turnkey system included advance online pre-registration for ticket holders, fully staffed check-in, testing and help teams for fast processing at LSU stadium prior to the game, and featured a mobile lab with a highly accurate rapid PCR assay to ensure accurate results.

“What a difference a season makes! Last year large venues across the country, like football stadiums, were either empty or at best 25 percent filled because of the threat of Covid-19. With the vaccine we are open for business this year but the Delta variant and the unvaccinated population still pose the risk of spreader events,” said Jeff Johnston, CEO of CovidScan. “The only measure to offset and remain open is accurate testing in high volume with fast turnaround on site. Before now it wasn’t possible to do this while safely checking off each of those boxes – accuracy, speed and acceptable price point. Now we can.”

CovidScan deployed an FDA EUA approved rapid molecular assay that can test as many as 7,000 samples per hour on-site at any location with extremely high accuracy and specificity. The set up can be converted to almost physical location, like a football stadium or a cruise ship, or can be outfitted into mobile vans for on-site testing at any location.

“This system has wonderful utility,” Johnston said. “It gives us volume options from low numbers to very high, it results in about 30 minutes, has EUA, is mobile and it’s affordable. We have the accuracy of gold standard PCR with the speed and price point of antigen testing!”

The program includes on-line HIPAA compliant pre-registration options for the patient, certified text or email results to the patient for any necessary clearances, and a telehealth option (free to user) for those receiving a positive result.

“After considering the numerous options available choosing this testing solution is not only a testament to Louisiana State University’s commitment to the safety and well-being for fans, athletes, administration, faculty and the community as a whole, but their foresight to take the leadership role in safely bringing our communities back to a sense of normalcy,” Johnston said.
